I am just a normal guy who likes to cook
I love to cook. I like to make interesting and tasty dinners but more importantly I don’t like to make the same thing all the time. This is partly the reason for this blog. I needed a way to record what I cook because my memory isn’t that great and sometimes I am stumped for what to make for dinner when I get home from work. This is a way to build a resource on meals that I have made and help me to decide if they are worth making again. Putting some rigor around the experimentation, if you will. Yes, I have my tried and true dinners but I really like to try new things most of the time. I will be building in a rating system to tell if the dinner is worth cooking again too.
I love food. There are few things in the world that delight and interest me more than what is put on a plate. As I have become older and more experienced in the kitchen my love of food has continued to grow as well. There is nothing I love more than simple roasted garlic and tomato, goats cheese, caramelised onions, prosciutto and a fresh crusty French loaf.
Don’t be fooled, I am not a trained cook. I have simply picked things up from magazines, the web, friends and what I think works. I am always on the lookout for new things to try but they have to be practical. I don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen or use every utensil under the sun to make a meal. I promise that what you will find here you can make in a basic kitchen. If I use something you wouldn’t expect I will let you know what it is, how to use it and whether it is worthwhile forking out the cash for it.
This is my first blog so please don’t judge too soon. What I hope is that others will pick up some inspiration from what I make as I experiment and I welcome any comment from you in building a better blog and its content. If it goes well I will possibly add some vidcasts and podcasts. I am thinking of audio recipes where you can cook along with me in real time.
